Jane Render

Jane Anne Stewart Render, of the Windsor Point Retirement Community in Fuquay-Varina, NC, formerly of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2018 at the age of 97. She was born on January 21, 1921 in Frankfort, NY, the daughter of the late Hazel and Ralph Stewart. In 1942, she graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) with a degree in Elementary Education and then taught in the elementary schools in New York State. On December 21, 1943, she married Thomas Joseph Render of Antwerp, N.Y. Jane enjoyed working with young children, gardening, and was an accomplished pianist and an avid amateur artist. She also loved to dance and travel, which she and her husband did following his retirement. Mrs. Render was predeceased by her husband of 71 years. Surviving are her daughters Leslie Ann Ingram of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Deborah Jo Warner of Aurora, Co. and a son Thomas Clark Render of Grifton, NC. She has 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation, but a brief memorial service was held at Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at 1:00pm. Officiating was Rev. Cheryl Lawrence. Interment was at Markham Memorial Gardens in Durham, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to Duke Chapel, Durham, NC.
