James Patrick "Pat" Leonard June 30, 1983 - July 25, 2012 Chapel Hill James Patrick Leonard, 29, of Chapel Hill passed away on July 25, 2012. He was born in Rochester, NY on June 30, 1983, lived in San Ramon, CA and had called Chapel Hill home since 1990. Patrick is survived by his loving partner, Christine Eaton, parents James and Melinda Leonard, sister Sutton Leonard, grandmothers Mary Jane Leonard and Eleanor Durvin, and his cherished German Shepherd Elsa. Pat was gregarious, passionate, charming and ambitious. He was a competitive gymnast in his early years. He ran a tree service company and obtained his pilot's license. His love of dogs, especially his beloved Elsa, led him to many hikes and challenging bike rides. He enjoyed off-roading while on trips in the mountains and beaches. Pat had a unique ability to lighten any situation and bring a smile to anyone's face. He will be missed especially for his sense of humor and his generosity to others. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Walker's Funeral Home, 120 West Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to German Shepherd Rescue & Adoptions, P.O. Box 471, Fuquay Varina, NC, 27526.
