James Edwin Daughtrey

James Edwin Daughtrey, age 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2022. He passed away suddenly at his home in Mebane. He was born in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Vernon Daughtrey and Daisy Adams Daughtrey. He was married for 60 years to his wife, Eileen, who survives. He was predeceased by his sister, Peggy, and brothers, Gordon and Kenneth.

Survivors also include his daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Scott Whitney; his son, Jim Daughtrey; his son, David Daughtrey; and his son and daughter-in-law, John Daughtrey and Katya Sevillano. Survivors also include 5 grandchildren, Jaime White, Zach and Matt Whitney, Andy Harrison and Luna Daughtrey.

He was a faithful member of Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Mebane, NC. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He really enjoyed working on cars. He loved to read and loved spending time with his dog, Levi. James served in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier from 1961 to 1964 and was present in the blockade at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

A small graveside service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11am at Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane, NC by Pastor Stu Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Mebane, NC.
