Gloria Jean Doby

January 31, 1944 — April 10, 2025

Gloria Jean Doby, passed away peacefully at her home in Mebane, North Carolina, on April 10, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on January 31, 1944, in Burlington, North Carolina, Gloria led a life filled with love, caring for her family and finding fulfillment in her hobbies.

For many years, Gloria dedicated herself to the textile industry, a field where her hard work and commitment shone brightly. After a fulfilling career, she made the decision to retire early, cherishing the opportunity to spend precious time with her grandchildren. This shift allowed her to nurture her family, providing love and support that will always be remembered.

Gloria had an undeniable passion for crafting, particularly enjoying crocheting and needlepoint. Her talented hands brought joy to many through her creations, each stitch infused with love. She also possessed a remarkable green thumb, successfully growing a variety of plants and flowers that brightened her home and the lives of those around her.

Devoted to her faith, Gloria was a dedicated member of the Graham Church of God. She loved spending time in God's word every morning before starting her day, Proverbs being her favorite book and Psalms 91 her favorite chapter. Her spiritual commitment guided her life, empowering her to touch the hearts of others within her community.

Gloria faced her later years with grace, having battled Alzheimer's disease since 2017. Throughout this challenging journey, she remained surrounded by love and support, ultimately passing peacefully in the comfort of her home, a testament to her strength and resilience.

Gloria is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Bernie May of Greensboro and Brenda Riley of Burlington. She leaves behind her children, Benny Joyce, and Tammie Workman (Lynwood), both of Mebane, along with her treasured grandchildren, Crystal Gualdoni (Jamey), Josh Workman, and Kaylee Ray (Victor). The joy of her life extended to seven great-grandchildren, who will carry her legacy forward.

She is welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Matthew and Ruby Jones; her husband, Wayne Doby; her sister, Bernise Bateman; her sister, Linda Garland; and her brother, Richard Jones—all of whom she loved deeply.

Gloria Jean Doby’s life was a tapestry woven with love, family, faith, and creativity. She will be missed profoundly by all whose lives she touched. Her spirit endures in the hearts of her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and devotion.
