Glenwood Scanlon

Mr. Glenwood Claude Scanlon, 89, died Friday afternoon at UNC Hospitals. Mr. Scanlon was born May 1, 1928 in Tupper Lake, New York, the son of the late Felix and Catherine Whitney Scanlon. Mr. Scanlon was educated at Clarkson University, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His wife of 62 years, Mary Jane Scanlon, preceded him in death in Janaury, 2018. Mr. Scanlon proudly served his country with the US Marine Corps. Mr. Scanlon is survived by his daughters, Diane Guthrie, and her husband, Brian, of Centreville, VA, and Renee Plott, and her husband, Mark, of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Jasmine, Lucas and Sophie Plott, and Cameron and Andrew Guthrie; and his sister-in-law, Carman Alicia Scanlon of Houston, TX; niece, Veronica Fowler; and nehew, Steven Scanlon. No services are planned locally. After cremation, Mr. Scanlon's ashes will be inurned, with his wife, in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O.
