Gladys Lavada Beaver Hightower

Mrs. Gladys Lavada (Beaver) Hightower passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024. She was born on September 2, 1931 in Beaverdam, NC near Cherokee, NC. She was the youngest of twleve children who all have preceded her in death. Her mama died a little after her birth while her daddy died a short time later. Three of her sisters raised her, especially Geneva Beaver. She was introduced to Robert Edward Hightower by her brother Bear Beaver, and they got married on November 13, 1949. Their first child, Michael Dennis, was born on August 19, 1950; Mary Frances was born on October 26, 1952; James Ray was born on January 11, 1955; David Eugene was born on February 13, 1957 and Charles Edward was born on August 6, 1960. Gladys had 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00AM on Friday, January 12 at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough with a visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow at 2:00PM at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens located at 3712 Cheek Rd, Durham, NC 27704.

The services will be officiated by Michael Dennis Hightower.

Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough is assisting the Hightower family.
