Frank Joseph Priolo January 24, 1924-September 24, 2013 Frank J. Priolo (89), died Sept. 24, 2013 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, after a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 24, 1924 in New York City, he was a member of "The Greatest Generation." Frank grew up in the depths of the depression from humble beginnings in New York City. He left school in the 8th grade to help support his family. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 1941 and served throughout WWII earning an honorable discharge in 1945 as a Corporal. After the war, he married Florence Elizabeth Unich in May 1947 and resided in Brooklyn, New York. Frank and Florence were married 53 years, prior to her death in April 2000. They had three daughters. Frank started and built his own business, "Time Overall", and delivered uniforms to factories and businesses New York City and its boroughs. In between running a business, he found time to renovate three different homes for the family in Brooklyn, Richmond Hill, Queens and East Rockaway, Long Island-NY. Upon his retirement in 1989 he moved to Hurdle Mills, NC and built a home there. He established roots in the community and friendships with neighbors and business people. Frank is survived by his daughters, Sally England and husband Graham, Diane Labiak and husband Gregg; and Elizabeth Tencza. He has six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters and a large extended family. His grandchildren are Robert England, Major Alexander & Rebecca Giacalone, USAF; Christopher, Matthew, & Amanda Tencza; his two great-granddaughters: Amelia & Meghan England. Frank had a generous spirit and was always willing to help others out, and was dearly loved by those close to him. We are saddened by his departure but strengthened by his life. Frank was a powerful force to those around him, and his spirit will forever be part of our lives. He loved his family and his country above all. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home in Hillsborough, NC on Thursday evening, Sept. 26 and Friday morning, Sept. 27, from 10 to 11:30 AM. There will be a Catholic Mass at The Immaculate Conception Church in Durham, NC at1:30 pm on Friday, Sept. 27th, followed by burial at St. Matthews Cemetery at 3:30pm.
