Francis Franklin

Mr. Francis Ira Franklin, 81, died Thursday, February 13, 2020, in Carver Living Center, Durham, NC. He was born in Virginia and attended the Virginia schools. He worked in the shipyard in Norfolk, VA. and later for Stratter and Richmond and the Nello Teer Co., Durham. Surviving are five daughters: Francine Allen, Virginia Merritt, Mattie Howell, Alicia Utsman, and Jolee Franklin, one devoted and loving sister Louise Franklin Cates, 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons: Francis Franklin, Jr. and Michael Franklin. A funeral service was held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 15, 2020 in the Chapel of Walker's Funeral, 204 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough.. Burial followed in the Hillsborough Town Cemetry. Pallbearers were Frankie Cates, Wade Franklin, Mark Holt, Melvin Huskett, Jason Leonard, and Henry Weaver. The Franklin family is under the care of Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough.
