Evelyn Teer

d. July 20, 2017

Ida Evelyn McPherson Teer, 83, died peacefully on July 20, 2017. Evelyn was born on September 16, 1933 to Nancy Durham McPherson and Calhoun McPherson. She is survived by a sister, Jane Terrell, who resides in Charlotte and a brother, Willie V. ( Jack) McPherson, of Saxaphaw. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jim McPherson, and sisters, Doreen Weston and Vivian Bodenheimer, and granddaughter, Michele Ellen Teer. Evelyn graduated from Alexander Wilson High School and for many years, until just recently, always enjoyed her class reunions. She was an active member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and Elder and loved her church family. She married Thomas Teer in August, 1951. She spent her whole life as a farmer's wife, with all its hard work and challenges. She would love to have traveled the world, but instead remained as an anchor for the rest of the family. She provided an assurance and encouragement that allowed the rest of us to spread our wings and venture to many parts of the globe. She enjoyed gardening for many years and planting flowers for herself and at Mama Teer's house for her to enjoy while she was living. She is survived by children, Michael Teer, Kathy Teer Crumpler and Sarah Teer Holt, as well as grandchildren - Aaron and Kelly Holt, Cory and Kara Crumpler, Rebecca, Amanda and Andrew Teer, Jaime Richards and great-grandchildren- Triton Finn O'Neal and Kierest Kinder. Her children and grandchildren will always remember her for her warmth, love, lots of good food, homemade mints and ice cream. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM July 28 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and visitation with the family in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations to UNC Hospice, 287 East Street, Suite 221 Pittsboro, NC 27312.
