Estelle Mabry

Estelle O'Berry Mabry Chapel Hill - Estelle O'Berry "Stelle" Mabry, 68, of Chapel Hill, died May 21, 2017 at her residence. Stelle grew up in Laurinburg and graduated from Laurinburg High School, Class of '67. She attended Agnes Scott and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, earning a BA in Political Science. Stelle developed multiple sclerosis in her 20's which caused her to go partially blind. In spite of her health problems, Stelle remained upbeat and active in Chapel Hill, attending the YMCA daily, and in local politics and the Northside Community Association. She loved traveling and growing flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick H. Mabry, Sr. and Estelle McElwee Mabry of Laurinburg. Surviving are her brothers, Frederick H. Mabry, Jr., M.D. (Lynne) and Richard Thomas Mabry (Louise) of Laurinburg; nieces and nephews, F. Harrison Mabry, III, M.D. (Jenny, M. D.) of West End, R. Tucker Mabry (Brittany) of Johns Island, SC, Jamie Yow (Melissa) of West End, Katherine O. Mabry of Laurinburg, Martha Mabry Wallace (Ian) of Durham, and close friend, Al Ross of Arlington, VA A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill, 120 W.
