Emogene Cole

Emogene T. Cole, age 83, died on September 4, 2015. Emogene was born on March 20, 1932 to the late J.T. Thompson and his wife Bessie Mae Thompson. She graduated from Chapel Hill High School, and worked as an administrative secretary for North Carolina Memorial Hospital soon after the hospital opened in the early 1950's, retiring from UNC Hospitals with 35 years of service. She and the late Clarence Seaton Cole were married September 29, 1950, and were both active members of Damascus Congregational Christian Church. Mrs. Cole is survived by her two daughters, Billie Cole Lewis (husband James) and Janice Cole Morgan, grandson Derek Ryan Morgan, her sister, Nancy T. Ray (Joseph), along with two nieces Carolyn R. Hatch and Becky R. O'Connell. She is preceded in death by her husband. Visitation with family will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Damascus Congregational Christian Church. Internment will be at the Cole Family Cemetery on Smith Level Road in Chapel Hill. Reverend Tim Allen will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cole Family Cemetery in care of Essell Womble at 2916 Damascus Church Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
