Earle Wayne Wilson Obituary

March 2,1942 - January 24, 2025

A lifetime Chapel Hillian, Wayne was born in Durham, NC and graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 1961. He started a career in retail, then moved into co-ownership of Travel-On Motorcyles, and then into Auto Sales, including Wholesale, which he enjoyed his entire life.

He was devoted to his wife, family and friends and loved UNC basketball, boating at Jordan Lake, cars and was a racing enthusiast. He lived a fun and vibrant life, with many adventures.

After retirement he enjoyed being home with his wife and their many animals. He was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clayton Dobbins Wilson and Margaret Lois Wilson. Two children Deborah Ann Wilson and Michael Wayne Wilson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Martha W. Wilson, a devoted sister Deloris Tomlinson (Tom), two grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Herbst (Joey) and Michael Wayne Wilson Jr., four great grandchildren, two nieces Beth Hall Lloyd and Kim Hall Burchell (Brian), and several great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at a later date.
