Dayn Curtis Peters died unexpectedly in the early morning hours of March 30th,
2022 at UNC Hospital. He was 38 years old.
Dayn was born on July 22, 1983 in Siler City, NC to his parents Ceib Phillips and
Edward Peters. He graduated from Durham Community College with an associate
degree in Computer Technology in 2017. He was skilled in computer network
engineering and was recently employed as a contractor for CISCO.
Dayn is survived by his mother, Ceib Phillips of Hillsborough, NC; his sister and
brother-in-law, Ashlynd and Matt Spirakus of Durham, NC; his nieces and nephews,
Zoey Abate and Haden, Kellen, and Quinn Spirakus of Durham, NC; and his partner,
Carly Erickson and her children Arrow and Skyla of Chapel Hill, NC.
In addition to his interest and expertise in computer sciences, Dayn was a
lifelong guitar player and an avid pool player. He loved cooking, mountain biking, and
woodworking. He was truly a jack of all trades. His friends and loved ones remember
him for his witty sense of humor, ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, and his
enormous passion for all of the things he enjoyed.
As a child, Dayn spent countless hours learning how to play the guitar and was
fascinated by the intricacies of the parts of guitars and amplifiers. He built his own
working electric guitar by the age of 14. To help other children follow their musical
passions, please consider donating to Musical Empowerment of Carrboro, NC in honor
of Dayn.
A celebration of Dayn’s life will be held at a later date.
