Cynthia Rigsbee Hazzard

Cynthia Jewel Rigsbee Hazzard, 73, of Durham passed away on August 4, 2015. She was born in Durham County on July 8, 1942 to the late Mabel Chapell Rigsbee and Coy Jackson Rigsbee. Jewel was an active member of the Red Hat Velvets of Orange County for 11 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Rigsbee, Coy Rigsbee, Jr. and Wayne Rigsbee. Those left to cherish her memory include husband, Walter Hazzard; daughter Libby Weaver Greenough and her husband David; sisters, Rebecca Smith, Dyann George; brothers, Arnold Rigsbee and his wife Peggy, Willie Rigsbee and his wife Crickett, Paul Rigsbee; sisters-in-law, Anne Rigsbee, Tiny Rigsbee; granddaughter, Heather Lloyd and her husband Paul; grandson, David Greenough, Jr.; great grandchildren, Bryson Lloyd, Corbin Lloyd, Gavin Lloyd and Best Friend Margaret Smith. A graveside service will be held 11 AM Friday, August 7, 2015 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, Durham with Pastor Kong Sok Namkug officiating. The family will receive visitors at other times at their home at 3328 Greenbirar Dr. Durham, NC. In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made in Jewel's memory to Red Hat Velvets of Orange County, 2339 Quail Ridge Dr. Hillsborough, NC 27278. Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough is in charge of arrangements.
