Clarence “Jack” Dew Knight Jr., 76, of Hillsborough, NC passed away on Thursday, March 12th, 2020 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC. Jack was born in 1943 to the late Clarence “Buck” Knight Sr., former Sheriff of Orange County, and Kathryn Bivins Knight in Richmond, VA. He graduated from Hillsborough High in 1962 and The University of Georgia with a BS in Forestry. Jack voluntarily joined the U.S. Army and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Vietnam War in 1969-1970 where he was awarded The Bronze Star for meritorious service. His entire professional career of over 30 years was spent in Public Health with the State of NC in the field of Environmental Health. Jack enjoyed nature, photography and sports but he most enjoyed his church, friends and family. Jack is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy; daughter Gina of Mebane; brothers Gene of Greensboro and Joel (Linda) of Hurdle Mills; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Hillsborough Town Cemetery on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to First Baptist Church of Hillsborough, 201 W. King Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278. The Knight family is under the care of Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill.
