Carrie Lee

Carrie Jane Lee (née Clayton), 91, passed away peacefully at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on May 11, 1923. A longtime resident of Crete and South Chicago Heights, IL, in later years Carrie lived in Hillsborough and Durham, NC. During World War II, Carrie proudly served her country in the Women's Army Corps as a nurse. Afterwords, she worked at and retired from General Electric in Chicago Heights, IL. Carrie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Jane Jaszczak (née Bober) and her husband, Ronald; her son, Walter Allen Bober and his wife, Lisa; her sister, Frances I. Binford; her grandchildren, John Patrick Jaszczak, Monica Jane Jaszczak, and Walter "Wally" Bober, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Olivia "Livi" Schiavon Jaszczak, Bianca Claire Jaszczak, and Jackson Newell Rose; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Clayton and Nina Jane Clayton; her siblings William, Jessie, James, and Evert; her first husband, Walter Bober; and her second husband, Malcolm P. Lee. There will be a viewing from 10 AM to 11 AM at Gospel Baptist Tabernacle Church, 2646 Orange Grove Rd., Hillsborough, NC 27278 A funeral service and internment will follow at the church.
