Billy Hawkins

Cedar Grove - Mr. Billy Calvin Hawkins, 79, died Thursday, November 19, 2015. He was a native of Orange County where he was born on the family farm and grew up farming it. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of Alamance Tech. He worked in the Orange County Schools in the heating and air department for 25 years. His life consisted of his family, his friends, and his work. He would give anyone a helping hand if needed. Surviving are his wife, Dathene Summey Hawkins, his daughter, Susan H. Rimmer (Martin), his son, Keith Hawkins, his grandson, Justin Rimmer, his brother, Thad Hawkins (Maybelle), and four nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Annie Belle and Jim Hawkins, and his brother Melvin Hawkins. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Sunday, November 22, in Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Walnut Grove Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to the Walnut Grove Church Cemetery Fund.
