Betty Page Layton

Mrs. Betty Layton passed away at SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home in Pittsboro on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the age of 89.

Betty was born on August 29, 1932 in Chapel Hill to the late Walter B. and Fannie M. Williams. She later married Allen L. Layton and they spent many years caring for their family and the families of others. Betty started her own child care service and took care of children throughout her community. She loved spending time with her grandkids, reading and going to Damascus Church where she was the oldest surviving member.

Survivors include her two sons, Mike Layton, Ralph Layton; daughter, Donna Salas; two granddaughters, Veronica Salas and Anita Salas Vance; seven grandchildren, Makayla Salas, Hannah Altavilla, Kendell Wyrick, Leah Cardin, Maddison Wyrick, Jackson Vance and Vivian Wolfe. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Layton; brother, T.J. Williams and sister, Shirley Carden.

Funeral services will be held at Damascus Church on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 12:00 PM, with a visitation beginning an hour before. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill has been entrusted to care for the Layton family.
