Barbara Brafford Rubish

Carrboro, NC—Barbara Brafford Rubish passed away after her battle with cancer on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the age of 66.

Barbara was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and grew up in Chapel Hill. She was the youngest daughter of the late Hal Brafford Sr. and Nell Sherrer Brafford. Barbara lived in Carrboro with her husband Jeffrey Rubish in their family home where she raised their three children. She is remembered as a caring mother, loving wife, beloved sister, and trusted friend. Her kitchen was always welcoming and her words of advice were taken to heart. Some of her truest words included: choose good friends and you can never have too many shoes. Both of which Barbara did well.

Barbara is remembered by her husband Jeffrey Rubish, eldest son Christopher Rubish and wife Brooke Rubish, daughter Kathryn Rubish, and youngest son Connor Rubish. She is also remembered by her sister Carolyn Brafford, and brother Hal “Brad” Brafford Jr. and wife Wanda Brafford, as well as many close cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The celebration of Barbara’s life will begin with a graveside service at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro at 1:00 on Sunday, February 20, 2022, friends and family are welcome to attend.
