Aurelia Hayes

Aurelia Trimm Hayes (“Ree”) of Hillsborough, North Carolina, passed away on January 8, 2020 at the age of 90. Ree Hayes was born on September 8, 1929 to Charlie Trimm and Esther Berry Trimm of Efland, North Carolina. She graduated from Hillsborough High School. She was employed at AT&T for many years and retired from their Quality Control Department. She married William E. Hayes on December 9, 1948. Together they raised three sons in Hillsborough, NC. She enjoyed spending time with her family, teaching her Sunday School class at Fairview Baptist Church, quilting and traveling. She also loved spending time at her beach house with her grandchildren during the summer. The beautiful flowers and garden around her house were evidence of her green thumb and love for gardening. The delicious fragrance coming from her kitchen was proof of her skill and love for cooking and baking. Ree is joyfully remembered by her friends, church family and especially by her loving family. Ree was pre-deceased by her Husband William E. Hayes (“Chubby”) and her youngest son Thaddeus E. Hayes. Surviving are her sons Andy Hayes (Joy) and Randy Hayes (Shelly). She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Andrea Larsen, Lauren Davis, Katie Jackson, Taylor Dawson and Sam Hayes as well as five great grandchildren, Carter and Evan Larsen, Kenleigh and Morgan Davis and Emily Jackson. Ree is also survived by two sisters, Emily Hurley, Mozelle Frederick and sister-n-law Sue Riley. Services for Ree will be held at Fairview Baptist Church in Hillsborough, NC on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2pm. Burial will be immediately following at the Hillsborough Town Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fairview Baptist Church, PO Box 751, Hillsborough, NC 27278. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to the caregivers of Mebane Ridge Assisted Living Memory Care Unit and Community Home Care and Hospice.
