Anna Mary Currie

August 1, 1943 — July 25, 2022

Anna Mary Currie passed on peacefully in her home in Hillsborough, NC on July 25th,
surrounded by her three children. The cause of death was lung cancer. She was 78 years old.

Anna was born on August 1, 1943 in New Orleans, LA, and the spirit of the city stayed with her
always. Anna sowed kindness everywhere she went, always saw the joy in life, and, goodness
could she cook! She was a gardener, weaver, quilter, knitter, and someone who tap danced well
into her 70s. Anna was an active member of her community in Hillsborough, as a member of the
Historic Downtown Commision, and long-time volunteer at the local hospital and other
community organizations and events. She was happiest in service to others and made it her
mission to brighten people’s days.

Anna had a long career in human resources, beginning at Tulane University and ending as
Human Resources DIrector for the City of Winter Park. She was also the founder and owner of
Perfumery on Park in Winter Park, FL.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, George Louis Weidie and Celena Levine Weidie.
She is survived by her children Ashley, Drew and Sarah Mattison, grandchildren Jaden, Leo,
Kessiah, Benjamin, Jonah and Oliver, and her sister, Celena Neal. Her children feel so lucky
and blessed to have had her guidance, kindness, and love throughout their lives. All those who
met Anna know what a special person she was.

A memorial service will be held at a later time to celebrate Anna’s life and the joy she brought to
everyone she met. As Anna had a special place in her heart for children, she has asked that in
lieu of flowers, donations be made to either:
The “Students and Families Fund” or the “Teacher’s Class Fund”
Central Elementary School
