Mebane - Mr. Alexander Baynes Laws Alexander Baynes Laws, 79, of Mebane passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. He was born in Orange County on February 11, 1936 to the late Davis "Bill" Alexander Laws and Zula Frances Wilson Laws. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Mildred Louise Laws; sisters, Frances Tilley and Virginia Jones. Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Sheryl Clement and husband Tommy, Louanne Thompson, and June Thomas and husband Mark; sons, Tony Vowell and wife Lisa, Tommy Vowell; sisters, Margaret Smith, Jean Wrenn and husband Morris, Emma Laws, Cathy Dickerson and husband Talmadge, Martha Holt and husband Jerry, Rita Edenfield and husband Butch, Brenda Hartmetz and husband Dave; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 PM Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Walkers Funeral Home of Hillsborough with Pastor Dennis Boone officiating. Burial will follow Walnut Grove United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday, May 15 at the funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice of Alamance/Caswell.
