Alene Crabtree Holloway

Alene Elizabeth Crabtree Holloway, 96 years young, passed away in her home on January 3, 2022, after several months of illness. Alene was born to Joseph Martin and Beulah Scott Crabtree on September 18, 1925. Raised and lived in Cedar Grove, Alene graduated from Aycock High School and Croft Business School. Alene retired from Peoples Security (Home Security). She was an active member of Five Forks Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 33 years. Alene was married to Lynwood Shelton Holloway for 63 years who preceded her in death in 2012. Survivors include Linda (Robert “Skip”) Norwood, Janet (Winston “Wink”) Mangum and Lynn (Teresa) Holloway; 8 grandchildren, Lori (Jerry) Nutt, Jamey (Stacey) Tapp, Robby (Jessica) Norwood, Cody Norwood, Douglas Mangum, Brandon (Heidi) Mangum, Brad (Ashley) Holloway and Bryan (Heather) Holloway; 13 great grandchildren, Amanda (James) Horton, Sara Nutt, Hunter and Harlan Mangum, Jackson O’Neil and Braxton Holloway, Brayton and Carter Norwood, Wesley and Macey Tapp; and 1 great-great grandchild, Liam Horton. Alene is also survived by her sister, Peggy (Wayne) Holloway and was preceded in death by siblings, Buddy and Irvin Crabtree and Patsy Clayton. A graveside service will be held at Five Forks Baptist Church on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 1:00 pm. Those wishing to pay respects may do so in the sanctuary beginning at noon.
