Alberta Davis

Mrs. Alberta B. Davis, age 99, a resident of Carrboro passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018. Alberta was born on May 26, 1919 to the late Walter Graham Brockwell and his wife Emma Vowell Brockwell. She was a lifelong resident of Carrboro where she met her husband Thomas Franklin Davis who she married on March 31, 1940. Alberta worked at multiple locations throughout Orange County during her career in food service eventually retiring from the Village Advocate in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Davis was a longtime member of Carrboro UMC. In her spare time, she enjoyed different things like sewing, crocheting and reading. Those left to cherish Mrs. Davis memory include her daughter, Lyndell Davis Coppedge and her husband Harold from Carrboro; son-in-law, Bryant S. Davis of Pittsboro; granddaughter and great granddaughter Gwendolyn “Missie” Davis and Sierra Cheek both of Black Mountain; niece, Sylvia Williams of Pittsboro; a very special niece, Pearl T. Maynor of Pittsboro and many other nieces and nephews. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband; mother and father; daughter, Eleanor Dale Davis; brother, Dewy S. Brockwell; two sisters, Ruby B. Maynor and Alba B. Merritt and grandson Roger Thomas Davis. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 11:00am at Carrboro UMC and will be officiated by Rev. Rani Woodrow. The family will receive friends and loved one at a visitation one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro.
