Our current staff of funeral directors has over 75 years of combined service in North Carolina. We pride ourselves by our involvement in our National Association, as well as our State Association. We are also actively involved in several civic clubs, and local Chambers of Commerce. "Our Family Serving Yours" says it all. We are honored to be considered to be your funeral service provider.
Elizabeth P. Walker, Owner/Trustee
Stephen W. Mitchell, Manager - Chapel Hill, Funeral Service Licensee
Stephen joined the Walker's Funeral Home team in September, 2017. Prior to being at Walker's, Stephen was employed with Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home (1993-2015) and Hall-Wynne Funeral Service (2016), both located in Durham.
Stephen is married to Debra, and has two children, stepson Zachary, and daughter Riley. He received his degree in Mortuary Science in 1988 from SUNY Canton, Canton, NY. He received his New York license that same year, and his North Carolina license in 1993.
Stephen grew up in the small town of Hamilton, NY, home to Colgate University, but has called the Triangle home since 1993. He enjoys ACC sports, golfing, racing, the beach and the mountains.
Chad Thomas Hefner, Funeral Service Licensee, Chapel Hill Location
Chad joined the staff of Walker’s Funeral Home in 2017. He grew up in a small town in Alexander County, North Carolina. Chad was a 2006 Honor Graduate from Fayetteville Technical Community College. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in North Carolina who assists families with funeral arrangements, pre-need arrangements, monument sales and service. He and his family reside here in Orange County. In his spare time, Chad enjoys music, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
Adam Baynard, Manager - Mebane, Funeral Service Licensee
Adam Baynard joined the staff of Walker’s Funeral Home in January 2018. He is from “Small Town Friendly” Rutherford County, North Carolina. A 1999 honor graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College, Adam was the recipient of the President’s Award. Adam is actively involved in the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association (NCFDA), where he serves on assorted committees and has contributed articles to the Tarheel Director. In 2013, Adam was selected to attend a program put on by the National Funeral Directors Association at the prestigious Harvard University Faculty Club in Boston, where he learned from three of the top funeral providers in the United States. Recently, Adam has been selected as a recipient of a Funeral Service Foundation Career Development Award. Adam is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in North and South Carolina with over twenty years’ experience of serving families in their time of need. He resides in the triad area and in his free time enjoys spending time with his family, watching UNC Tarheel sporting events, cooking and traveling.
Thomas W. Brown “Tommy” Funeral Service Licensee, Mebane Location
Tommy joined the staff of Walker’s Funeral Home in September 2018. Previously he was with Rich and Thompson Funeral service, Burlington-Graham for over 28 years. Tommy is a graduate of Eastern Alamance High School, Mebane and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta. A native of Alamance County, Tommy and his wife, Tammy Coffey Brown reside in Graham. They have two children, a daughter, Audrey Dale Brown and a son, Thomas William Brown, II. Tammy has two older daughters, Nickole Foust Jones and husband Josh and Brooke Elizabeth Clark. They have three grandchildren, Peyton, Hudson and Emerson Jones.
He attends Bellemont United Methodist Church in Burlington. Tommy is a volunteer with the Graham Fire Department. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and being involved with his children’s sports activities. Tommy’s hobbies include camping, boating and manicuring his lawn.
Jasper "Tink" Dixon, Manager - Hillsborough, Funeral Director
Jasper A. Dixon, known as Tink, grew up in Hurdle Mills, NC and resides there today with his wife Shelby. He served in the U.S. Army, is a Mason, and a member of Berry's Grove Baptist Church.
He has worked in funerals since the age of 17, received his Funeral Directors license in 1988, and has been part of our team for 18 years.
Nick Bryant, Funeral Assistant, Chapel Hill Location
Nick is a Durham native with over fifteen years experience working in funeral service. He joined the Walker's staff in 2014.
He is retired from IBM, and is a member of the Quarter Century Club. Nick is also a charter member of the Redwood Fire Department in Durham County and served as their chief for over 25 years. Mr. Bryant is a member of the NC State Fireman's Association and the Durham County Fire Chief's Association.
Nick and his wife Penny have two children and two grandchildren.
Nathan is a Graham native, graduating from Graham High School. He has been involved in funeral service for the past 12 years, most recently with Rich & Thompson Funeral Service, before joining our staff in 2017. Nathan is an active member of First United Methodist Church in Graham. He attended Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, where he was a member of the basketball team. He graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA in 2009.
Nathan has one daughter, Reagan, who is the light of his world. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his daughter, watching Tar Heel sports, playing basketball, the outdoors, and his family, including helping his grandmother.
Jerry Perry, Certified Crematory Operator, Funeral Assistant
Jerry Perry is certified to perform cremations, and currently manages our crematory, located at our Mebane location. He lives in Mebane with his wife and son.
Carl Wall, Funeral Assistant, Hillsborough Location
Rick Thompson, Funeral Assistant
A Greensboro native, Rick has been in Critical Emergency Care his entire career. He is a National Registered Critical Care Paramedic, a Board Certified Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, and holds an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science.
In his spare time, Rick enjoys singing and listening to Christian contemporary music. He has a passion sharing and supporting those who are experiencing loss, since the recent passing of his wife, Ginny, in October 2017.
Diana joined the Staff at Walker's Funeral Home in September, 2018. She grew up in the small town of Odin, Illinois, and relocated to North Carolina in 2002 to aid in taking care of her family.
Diana has a heart for aiding seniors and their families. She believes her role in serving Seniors in her local area is both a mission and a blessing. Diana has aided in the help of her mother’s care and was the sole care provider for her Father in Law for several years.
She has spent 30 years leading business organizations, honoring critical strategic decision making skills and learning how important both people and passion can be to achieving successful outcomes. She uses her skills and passion assisting clients and their families.
Diana has 3 children, Katelyn, Caleb and Ericka. She enjoys taking trips with them to Illinois, the beach and mountains. She now resides in Hillsborough with her two youngest children.
