Obituary of Valinda Lou Wrenn Gornto

Valinda Lou Wrenn Gornto was born July 29, 1937 in Hillsborough, NC and died February 11, 2018 in Durham, NC after a period of declining health.

A life -long resident of Hillsborough, Mrs. Gornto retired from Duke University after 40 years in the Benefits & Records Department, "signing up and explaining benefits to people with Masters Degrees & Doctorates that couldn't understand insurance".  She was known for her sense of humor and love of cats.  

She is survived by her brother Morris Wrenn and wife Jean,  niece Sharon Wrenn Wilson and  husband Bill, niece Crystal Wrenn Babson and husband Robert.  Also surviving are two great nephews, Drew Babson and wife, Brittany, William Wilson and fiancĂ© Lauren Wolfe, and great niece Allison Babson Ross husband, Justin.  Hunter Warren and Trista Warren survive as great great nephew and great great niece.

She was predeceased by her husband, former Hillsborough Deputy Bruce Gornto, father Oscar Wrenn/Strum and mother Lizzie Wrenn/Strum.

A service of memory and Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 1:00 in the Chapel of Walker's Funeral Home, Hillsborough. Pallbearers will be William Wilson, Corey Collins, Jamie Smith, John Stephanson, Doug Hackler and  Dr. Warner Burch. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 11:30am to 12:45pm in the funeral home, 204 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough.
