Obituary of Freddy Watson Parrish

Freddy Watson Parrish, age 73, died on January 27, 2018 at UNC Hospital.  Freddy was born October 22, 1944 in Wilson County, NC to the late Paul and Mamie Parrish and was married to Marilyn Watson Parrish on July 15, 1967. Freddy graduated from Lucama High School in 1963. Shortly after Freddy went to work for UNC-Chapel Hill Telecommunications where he spent his 35 year career before retiring in 2003. In his retirement, Freddy enjoyed bluegrass music, woodworking, traveling, and enjoying life with his wife and son. Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Chapel Hill; his son Shane (Erin) of Chapel Hill; his nephews and nieces Pat (Vickie) Moore, Dennis (Addie) Moore, Jeff (Cindy) Moore, Dee (Brian) Mary, Karen (Lenny) Jones, and Jeremy Watson. In addition to his parents, Freddy was preceded in death by his siblings Harold Parrish, Hilda Moore, Janice Gallahan, and Nell Berns.

The Parrish family had an informal visitation on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill from 5:00pm to 6:45pm. Funeral services followed at 7:00pm in Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel. The burial was held at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina Inc. 4819 Park Road #C, Charlotte, NC  28209-3274.
