Obituary of Carol Whitlow George

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
After a short period of declining health, Carol Jean Whitlow George of Hillsborough, NC, passed away at Duke Medical Center Wednesday afternoon. The care she received from the ICU staff was exemplary. The compassion and kindness shown to Carol, her family and friends was very comforting. A graduate of Orange High School, carol spent her entire working career of 44 years at Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation. Known and so well-loved by her family and large group of friends, Carol is survived by her husband of 29 years, Joseph Ernest George; her siblings: twin sister Pat Whitlow Gates (husband Thomas), sisters Bette Whitlow Bradshaw and Nancy Whitlow Walker (husband Bryant) all of Hillsborough, brothers Kenneth Whitlow (wife Cindy) of Littleton, NC, Bill Whitlow (wife Brenda) of Virginia Beach, VA and Tommy Whitlow (wife Ann) of Mebane; step-daughters Misty George DeWeese (husband Tony) and Shawna George of Florida; grandson Logan DeWeese; granddaughters Ashleigh Marie George and Sierra Hemrick; many nieces and nephews who referred to Carol as a second mom. Carol's many passions included cooking and baking and she loved sharing those treats with everyone. When you mention Carol to anyone, their first comment is that they will miss her delicious cakes. Carol loved the beach, beach music and the Timeless Cruizers Car Club she and Joe had been members of for many years. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday morning, September 2nd, at 11:00 am followed by visitation in the Fellowship Hall of New Sharon United Methodist Church, where Carol was a member for many years. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks for all the love, prayers and thoughtful gestures shown during these recent weeks. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to New Sharon Endowment Fund or other charities in memory of Carol.
